Actress Annie Macaulay has publicly confirmed her divorce from renowned musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia. The confirmation came during the 17th Headies Awards ceremony held on Sunday night, ending months of public speculation.
While co-presenting the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year alongside Farooq Oreagba—popularly known as the “King of Steeze” following his celebrated appearance at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival—Annie subtly but clearly addressed her new status.
Introducing herself on stage, Annie briefly stumbled over her former married name before quickly correcting herself, signaling a return to her maiden identity.
“Annie Idi… Oh! Sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she quipped, drawing cheers and applause from the audience.
Her on-stage slip confirmed rumors that had been swirling for months. Earlier in March, Annie resurfaced on social media after a brief hiatus, signing off posts as Annie Uwana Macaulay—notably dropping the Idibia surname.
Annie and 2Baba, who share two children, officially ended their marriage in January 2025 after 2Baba publicly announced their separation. Since the split, the singer has moved on, proposing to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru and introducing her to his family and kinsmen in Benue State, further fueling talk of an imminent wedding.
Fans and observers have praised Annie for handling the transition with grace and resilience, as she steps into a new chapter of her personal and professional life.
