Some aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos state chapter on Monday staged a protest at the state House of Assembly complex in Ikeja, demanding the immediate removal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
The protesters, believed to be grassroots representatives from various Local Government Areas across the state, carried placards with bold inscriptions such as “Ojelabi Must Go”, “We Want Fresh Leadership”, and “Save Lagos APC Now.”
Chanting solidarity songs, the demonstrators accused the embattled chairman of poor leadership, lack of inclusiveness, and failing to unite the party at the grassroots level ahead of key political activities.
The protest prompted a significant security response, with dozens of police officers and other security operatives deployed around the Assembly complex to maintain peace and prevent any possible breakdown of law and order.
As of press time, neither the Lagos APC leadership nor the State Assembly had issued an official response to the protest.
