Mobolaji Sanusi, a leading aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primary for Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has accepted the outcome of the election despite expressing serious doubts about its credibility.
Sanusi, the former Managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), issued a statement on Sunday acknowledging the party’s decision while dismissing the declared results as manipulated.
“The score of 21-2 is outrageously concocted. But I accept it. It is absolutely fine by me,” Sanusi said. “I did not lose the APC ACME Secretariat primary. Those responsible for the laughable score will face their conscience, forever.”
Despite his dissatisfaction, Sanusi affirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged to support the party’s efforts going forward.
“The party has spoken, and that’s final. We’ve moved from complaint to reality,” he stated. “I remain committed to the party’s progress and unity.”
The APC Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, had declared Oluyemisi Rosiji the winner of Saturday’s primary held at the party’s secretariat. Rosiji is among the 55 chairmanship candidates who emerged from the party’s just-concluded primaries across Lagos State ahead of the July 12 local government elections.
Sanusi emphasized that his loss was not a reflection of his capacity or popularity, noting that 12 out of 18 LCDA leaders—including a key woman leader—had endorsed him as a consensus candidate prior to the primary.
“Ojokoro has been denied the chance to have a competent, credible, and tested leader for the next four years,” he said.
He also extended gratitude to his supporters and particularly thanked the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, for what he described as steadfast backing.
“To him and my thousands of supporters: we have not lost,” Sanusi said.
