Nigerian Army has renamed the Ikeja Military Cantonment in honour of the late Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja. The Cantonment is is now to be known as the ‘T. A. Lagbaja Cantonment’.
Present at the event was the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa and other service chiefs.
Born on February 28, 1968, Lt. General Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu.
He died in Lagos, aged 56 after battling an undisclosed ailment.
Lt. General Lagbaja was laid to rest at the ministry cemetery, Abuja on Friday, November 15, 2024.
The late Army chief is survived by his widow Mariya, and their two children.
