A Legacy in Nigerian Football
Chukwu, affectionately known as “Chairman,” left an indelible mark on Nigerian football as both a player and a coach.
He was the caption of the national football team- Green Eagles that won the African Cup of Nations hosted by Nigeria at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The towering defender was equally the caption of Rangers International football club of Enough.
Chukwu was a coach when Nigeria in 1994 won the African Cup in Tunisia and appeared at the World Cup as a coach the same year.

In 2021, Chukwu had to refute false reports of his death, which circulated widely on his 70th birthday. He expressed embarrassment over the rumors and assured fans he was alive and well.
