President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all members of the Super Falcons and their technical crew following their triumphant return from the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Each player and member of the technical crew was also awarded a fully furnished three-bedroom house, alongside cash rewards of $100,000 for the players and $50,000 for the coaching staff.

The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, arrived at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday to a hero’s welcome after defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic WAFCON final on Saturday evening. The hard-fought victory secured Nigeria’s 10th continental title, further solidifying the team’s legendary status in African football.

President Tinubu, who had urged the team before the final to “bring the trophy home,” received the champions at exactly 4:36 p.m. at the State House, where a special reception was held in their honour.
