The normally quiet Umumba Ndiagu community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State was thrown into chaos and outrage on Tuesday after shocking revelations surfaced about the criminal activities allegedly taking place in the compound of a well-known native doctor, Levi Onyeka Obu, popularly known as Ezeani or Ichie Millions.
Community youths, acting on a tip-off and mounting suspicions, stormed Ezeani’s expansive compound and uncovered what they claim to be evidence of ritual killings and other heinous crimes. According to eyewitnesses and viral video footage, multiple soak-away pits filled with human remains were discovered within the premises. The native doctor allegedly abducted his victims—including pregnant women and children—and buried them alive for ritual purposes.
The tension reached a boiling point when a 13-year-old girl, allegedly abducted by Ezeani’s men, was rescued after she was found crying from inside a pit. Her account revealed that she and her father had gone to fetch firewood when they were approached by the suspects. After seizing her, she was thrown into a dug pit until vigilant members of the Neighbourhood Watch heard her cries and intervened.
A series of viral videos circulating online show the enraged community ransacking Ezeani’s shrine, destroying property, and eventually setting his palatial home and exotic cars ablaze. One video captures a man identified as a compound guard, stripped and tied up by the youths. During questioning, he admitted to being sent on errands and frequenting the compound for ritual purposes but denied participating in the killings.
The situation escalated after it was confirmed that Ezeani was caught attempting to abduct the minor, prompting an investigation that exposed layers of atrocities committed within his compound.
The Enugu State Police Command confirmed the rescue of the 13-year-old girl and the arrest of three suspects—Uche Kingsley Agumba (33), Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi (36), and Ejike Odinwankpa (38). During the operation, two decomposing corpses, one male and one female, were discovered in a concrete-sealed pit on the property.
Ezeani, the prime suspect, is currently at large. The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, who visited the crime scene, has launched a manhunt for him. He commended the collaboration between the police, the local security forces, and the vigilant community members, stating that justice must be served.
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the command is committed to unearthing all accomplices involved in the criminal ring.
Meanwhile, the Enugu State Government has demolished all buildings within the compound, which were reportedly used for these criminal activities, as part of efforts to deter such gruesome acts in the future.
The entire community of Umumba Ndiagu remains in shock as the scale of the horror continues to unfold.
