NDLEA uncovers meth in ceramics, seizes drugs hidden in lady’s bags, black soap, and alcoholic sachets bound for Europe, UAE, and South Africa

A 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, after excreting 127 wraps of cocaine he concealed in his body.

Ejiofor, who runs boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, was apprehended upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via an Ethiopian Airlines flight (ET 941) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, following credible intelligence.

A body scan confirmed that the suspect had ingested illicit drugs and concealed more within his private parts. NDLEA operatives immediately recovered 58 wraps of cocaine from his underpants, while he later excreted an additional 69 pellets during observation — bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

In a related development, NDLEA officers intercepted three major consignments of hard drugs heading to the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos between October 9 and 10. The seizures included 1.74kg of methamphetamine concealed in glass ceramics, pentazocine and tramadol injections, and tramadol capsules hidden in Vitamin C containers.

Similarly, attempts by other syndicates to export skunk, tapentadol, cocaine, and cannabis to Turkey, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates were foiled. Drugs were found cleverly hidden inside black soap tablets, ladies’ handbags, and containers of herbal products.

At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, NDLEA officers also intercepted 27,510 pills of rohypnol disguised as sachets of alcoholic drinks en route to South Africa. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the mastermind, Samuel Omoruyi (alias Yellow), at the Oyingbo market after the arrest of a freight agent and a cab driver.

On the same day, Italy-based businessman Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen was caught while attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol hidden in food items. He confessed that he was paid €945 to traffic the drugs.

NDLEA operations across states also yielded significant busts:

  • Edo State: 47kg of skunk recovered from the home of one Emmanuel Sunday in Etsako Central LGA.
  • Osun State: Two suspects, Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo (48) and Oladejo Taiwo (52), arrested with 635kg of skunk in Ife South LGA. Two others were caught with 100kg of the same substance.
  • Rivers State: Arrests of Okoro Julius (20) and Onyebuchi Nwibo (25) linked to 8.5kg of skunk; 29.5kg was seized from Sulaiman Kalalu (46) in Katsina State.
  • Niger State: Yisa Daniel (29) arrested with 22,000 tramadol capsules, 800 pentazocine ampoules, and 150,000 exol-5 pills.
  • Ondo State: 312kg of skunk recovered in Ologede camp, Ogbese.
  • Kaduna State: Rufai Ahmed (27) nabbed with 150,000 exol-5 pills along Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Meanwhile, NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign continued nationwide with sensitization sessions in schools, churches, and communities across several states, including Adamawa, Ebonyi, Katsina, Enugu, Niger, Kogi, Anambra, Rivers, Kano, and Osun.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain the momentum in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
