The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State has commenced the registration of residents for the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme, beginning with Ward B in the first phase of the exercise.
Speaking to journalists at the council secretariat in Ibeju on Tuesday, the Council Chairman, Mr. Sesan Olowa, said the registration would run from October 7 to October 14, and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on poverty alleviation and social inclusion.
Olowa explained that the initiative aims to provide targeted financial assistance to vulnerable households across the local government area, helping to cushion the effects of economic reforms.
He noted that the registration exercise would hold at designated centres in all wards, urging residents to visit the centres closest to them on their ward’s scheduled date.
“Applicants are required to provide personal and household details such as name, date of birth, gender, marital status, address, and phone number. Valid means of identification — including Voter’s Card, LASRRA, NIN, or BVN — are mandatory,” Olowa said.
He added that information on family size, occupation, income level, building type, health condition, and disability status would also be captured to ensure a comprehensive and transparent profiling process.
The chairman emphasized that the registration is free of charge, warning residents against extortion and urging them to provide accurate details for fair data collection.
According to Olowa, the CCT initiative is part of the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), designed to reduce poverty and promote economic inclusion among low-income families.
He assured residents that necessary arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth registration and verification process across all wards.
“This programme will significantly improve the living standards of residents — especially women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities — by providing financial relief and a pathway to stability,” he said.
Olowa encouraged residents to take full advantage of the exercise, adding:
“Go to your ward at the designated date and present authentic documents to facilitate smooth registration and eventual inclusion in the scheme.”
