Driver, conductor flee, as pedestrian killed, two injured in commercial bus accident

A devastating accident occurred earlier today at Iyana Ejigbo, Lagos, involving a commercial LT bus with license plate number AAA 927 YJ.

The incident resulted in the death of a pedestrian and left two others severely injured. According to preliminary investigations, the bus was traveling at excessive speed when it experienced brake failure, causing the driver to lose control.

The vehicle subsequently veered off course and collided with bystanders.

Driver and Conductor Flee Scene
In a shocking turn of events, the driver and conductor abandoned the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the victims and vehicle behind.

LASTMA operatives responded swiftly, extracting the deceased from beneath the bus and providing assistance to the injured. The victims were promptly rushed to the General Hospital in Isolo for medical attention.

LASTMA’s Response and Investigation
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has taken charge of the situation, with the accident vehicle being transferred to the police for comprehensive investigation.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, extended condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He emphasized the importance of adhering to speed regulations and maintaining vehicles properly to prevent such incidents.
