Operatives from Directorates 1 and 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Command, on Saturday monitored the conduct of the Local Government Elections across Lagos State.
The deployment formed part of the Commission’s broader strategy to curb vote buying and ensure strict adherence to electoral laws.
The monitoring operation was led by CE Michael Nzekwe, Chief of Staff to the EFCC Chairman, and ACE I Ahmed Ghali, Acting Director of Lagos Directorate 2. The operatives were present at various polling units across key areas of the state.
Their visible presence at the grassroots level underscored the EFCC’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in Nigeria’s electoral processes.
Field reports indicated that the elections were largely peaceful. Many voters expressed satisfaction with the EFCC’s proactive role in safeguarding the process, particularly in discouraging financial inducements at polling units.
Other security agencies also commended the Commission’s collaboration, highlighting its vital role in maintaining electoral integrity and deterring malpractices that have marred previous polls.
