In a major move to recover public funds, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today handed over a confiscated 750-unit luxury housing estate—seized from former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele—to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The estate, comprising over 750 high-end duplexes, is set to be sold to Nigerian buyers as part of a government initiative to repurpose seized assets and generate revenue.

Speaking at the official handover, Minister of Housing Ahmed Musa Dangiwa revealed that the properties will be sold through a transparent and competitive process under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.

“These homes will be sold through a fair, open, and well-publicized process via the Renewed Hope Portal,” Dangiwa said. “Our goal is to ensure that ordinary Nigerians have access to these properties, and that public resources are fully recovered and reinvested in national development.”

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in asset recovery and reuse. The luxury estate, once tied to alleged financial mismanagement under Emefiele’s tenure, now becomes a symbol of the government’s commitment to justice and public trust.

The development marks a significant milestone in President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption and housing reform agenda.
