The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 120 suspected internet fraudsters in a major operation across Lagos State. The suspects comprise 95 males and 25 females.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in Abuja. He said the arrests were carried out the same day at various locations across the state, following credible intelligence and weeks of thorough surveillance on the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrime activities.
During the coordinated operation, EFCC operatives recovered 26 exotic cars, expensive jewelry, smartphones, laptops, and several incriminating documents.
“The suspects are currently undergoing further investigation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of inquiries,” Oyewale stated.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and bringing perpetrators to justice as part of its broader effort to protect Nigeria’s digital and financial space.
