Chaos erupted in the Idi-Araba area of Mushin on Eid day as armed hoodlums launched a violent daylight invasion, vandalizing vehicles, looting shops, and terrorizing residents amid ongoing celebrations. The brazen attack has deepened fears over worsening insecurity and triggered urgent calls for military intervention.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers descended on the community in large numbers, smashing windshields, ransacking stores, and carting away valuables as terrified locals fled for safety. Several cars were left wrecked, and properties worth millions were reportedly looted.

“This is not the first time, and it clearly won’t be the last if nothing is done,” one eyewitness told a media source. “They came in broad daylight during a festive celebration and turned everything into chaos. Where are the police? Where is the government?”

The incident comes just days after Mushin Local Government Chairman, Bamigboye Emmanuel, declared that peace had returned to the troubled area. That statement has since sparked outrage among residents, who now accuse the chairman of concealing the reality of escalating violence for political convenience.

“This is exactly why people no longer believe what our leaders say,” another resident said. “Just a few days ago, the council chairman said peace had returned. Look at us now—still living in fear, still being attacked.”

The Nigeria Police have been criticized for their inability to contain the recurring violence, prompting community leaders to demand more robust federal intervention.

“We need the Nigerian Army now,” a local leader urged. “The police have tried, but clearly cannot handle this situation. If nothing is done soon, it could escalate into something more deadly.”

As tensions soar, the Lagos State Government and federal security agencies face mounting pressure to take decisive action to secure Mushin and prevent a full-blown crisis.
