The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through Mr. Abdulkadir Zulkifku, Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), has said, they have started the process to hire new contractors for waste collection and removal.

He said this during a waste cleanup exercise on Thursday.

According to him, the previous contractors’ contracts ended in April, so the new hiring was necessary.

The cleanup was happening in satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory, including Karu in the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

He explained that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had directed the STDD to clear all dump sites while the hiring process was ongoing.

Mr. Zulkiflu added that the STDD was currently handling waste removal directly and was also thinking of moving the waste collection point to reduce health risks for residents.
