The Lagos State Police Command is mourning the passing of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaraonye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, who died while receiving medical care in Lagos.
Ngbaraonye reportedly passed away late on Thursday, October 24, 2025, at Mayriamville Medical Centre in Bode Thomas, Surulere, where she had been undergoing treatment for fibroid-related complications.
A delegation from the Command was immediately dispatched to the hospital to confirm the development and coordinate necessary formalities. Her remains have since been transferred to a public morgue for preservation and autopsy.
In a statement, the Lagos State Police Command described CSP Ngbanoyen as a dedicated and disciplined officer who served with distinction and professionalism throughout her career.
The Command expressed its condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends, assuring that it will work closely with her loved ones to ensure she receives a befitting burial.
