The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a sharp increase in the cost of obtaining an international passport, with the new rates set to take effect from September 1, 2025.
Under the revised fees, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, up from the previous ₦26,000. Similarly, a 64-page passport with ten-year validity will attract a fee of ₦200,000.
The NIS stated that the adjustment was necessary to align the cost of production with current economic realities and to improve service delivery to Nigerians at home and abroad.
