The Federal government through the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially summoned controversial entertainer Darlington Okoye, publicly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, for questioning over social media content that allegedly contains admissions of sexual acts involving minors.

In a letter dated May 28, and signed by Ngamaraju Titus Mangzha, Head of the Cybercrime Response Team, the agency cited recent videos shared via Instagram and other platforms in which Mr. Okoye allegedly made incriminating statements regarding sexual conduct with an underage girl.

According to NAPTIP, the materials in question include both recent and archived footage that may violate provisions of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, as well as the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

The letter, addressed to Mr. Okoye’s known alias and Instagram handle (@speeddarlintv), invited him to appear in person for an interview on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the NAPTIP Headquarters located at 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

NAPTIP emphasized that Mr. Okoye is permitted to come with legal representation and any relevant documents, stressing that cooperation is crucial for a fair and thorough investigation. The agency also noted that failure to comply with the invitation could lead to further legal action.

As of the time of this report, Mr. Okoye has not made a public statement regarding the summons.

This development adds to growing concern over the role of social media in amplifying content that may breach legal and ethical standards, particularly involving the rights and protection of minors.
