No fewer than 55 of the expected 57 chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the July 12 Local Government elections in Lagos State have emerged following party primaries held on Saturday in Ikeja.
The APC primaries saw candidates emerge through both consensus agreements and delegate voting, with 1,539 delegates expected to participate across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). However, primaries were not conducted in Yaba LCDA and Mainland LCDA due to pending litigations, resulting in the absence of delegates from those areas.
Each of the councils where voting was conducted had 27 delegates participating.
Announcing the results, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Mr. Babatunde Ogala, revealed that four candidates emerged through consensus, while 51 others were elected through delegate voting.
The candidates selected via consensus and affirmed by delegates include:

Mrs. Motunrayo Gbadebo (Ijede LCDA)
Mr. Rasaq Kasali (Lekki LCDA)
Mr. Azeez Kareem (Otto-Awori LCDA)

Mr. Hameed Aroyehun (Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA)
Mrs. Oluyemisi Rosiji (Ojokoro LCDA)
Mr. Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe LG)
Mr. Olufemi Okeowo (Ifelodun LCDA)
Mr. Olamilekan Akindipe (Ajeromi-Ifelodun LG)
Mr. Suleiman Yusuf (Surulere LG)
Others include:

Tola Oyedele (Agboyi-Ketu LCDA)

While the process was largely peaceful, some aspirants and their agents protested the outcomes in certain councils. Ogala acknowledged the possibility of human error and advised aggrieved parties to seek redress through the APC Appeal Committee.
He emphasized that the primaries were conducted transparently and in the overall interest of the party, commending delegates for their patience and cooperation.
Meanwhile, councillorship primaries were simultaneously held across various wards in the state.
