Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, has directed security operatives to arrest individuals with dreadlocks in Minna, the state capital. Speaking at a security meeting, Bago instructed authorities to cut the hair of those arrested and impose fines.
Security Measures
The governor’s directive is part of a broader effort to maintain law and order in the state.
Bago also ordered security operatives to treat anyone carrying arms as armed robbers and restricted the movement of commercial motorcycles and tricycles from 6 pm to 6 am in Minna, exempting those used for medical emergencies.
Community Involvement
Bago tasked traditional leaders to ensure proper documentation of residents in their domains and warned that buildings harboring criminals or used for illicit drug sales would be destroyed.
