The Lagos State Government has called on property owners to give their buildings regular facelifts as part of efforts to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city.

The appeal was made on Tuesday in Alausa by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, who emphasized the need for a culture of routine exterior improvements. He highlighted enhancements such as repainting, façade repairs, and general exterior touch-ups as critical to aligning with the #GreaterLagos vision and the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus development agenda.

Dr. Olumide particularly urged owners of properties located along major highways and high-traffic corridors to lead by example, noting that their efforts would contribute significantly to the beautification and modernization of the cityscape.

“We implore property owners—especially those with buildings on major highways such as Ikorodu Road, Agege Motorway, Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku Street, Lagos-Abeokuta Motorway, Herbert Macaulay Way, and Murtala Muhammed Way—to undertake the much-needed facelift of their building facades. This will help support the State Government’s drive to build a 21st-century economy,” he stated.
