Guinness™, the bold and iconic brand from Nigeria’s leading total beverage company, Guinness Nigeria, has successfully wrapped up its highly anticipated Premier League™ Trophy Tour — thrilling thousands of passionate football fans in a dynamic, three-day, two-city celebration of sport, culture, and community.
Held in partnership with the Premier League™, the tour marked a powerful milestone in Guinness Nigeria’s 75-year legacy of boldness and connection. It kicked off in Enugu and concluded with a high-energy finale in Lagos, offering fans a rare opportunity to see and engage with the Premier League Trophy — the ultimate symbol of football excellence.
But the tour was far more than a trophy showcase. Guinness transformed both cities with its signature MatchDay experience — an immersive football fan zone that featured 360-degree Guinness™ bars, personalized jersey booths, noise-cancellation headset replay zones, live performances, and interactive activities. It was a multisensory experience designed to bring the thrill of the Premier League to life.
Speaking at a press conference at the State House, Marina, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praised Guinness Nigeria’s impact on national development and culture.
“It’s exciting to see Lagos featured in this historic tour. Guinness has been part of our story for decades — from its first brewery outside the UK to its deep social impact. Having the real Premier League Trophy here reinforces our passion for football, and it’s gratifying that Guinness, now 75 years strong in Nigeria, made this possible,” said Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Girish Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of Guinness Nigeria, reflected on the resounding success of the initiative:
“This journey has been incredible — not just for Guinness, but for every fan who joined us. Football is more than a game — it’s community and passion. Through this tour, we’ve put fans at the centre of the experience. Nigeria is one of the world’s most passionate football nations, and we’re proud to have delivered this moment.”
Fans were equally moved by the experience. Malik Ibitoye, a devoted Liverpool FC supporter who attended the Lagos leg, said:
“Seeing the Premier League Trophy in person was surreal — like standing on the pitch at Anfield. Guinness created something unforgettable. I’ll cherish this for life.”
At The Palms Shopping Mall in Lagos, Olayinka Bakare, Marketing and Innovation Director at Guinness Nigeria, underscored the emotional resonance of the event:
“This wasn’t just a tour — it was a celebration of identity, pride, and shared joy. At Guinness™, we’re committed to creating bold, culturally relevant experiences that reflect the heartbeat of our consumers. This tour reminded us of the power of sport to inspire and unite.”
As Guinness Nigeria continues its 75th anniversary celebrations, the Premier League Trophy Tour stands as a testament to its legacy of unforgettable moments, cultural impact, and deep-rooted community connection.
