A daring armed robbery incident on Monday left an Ikeja-based businessman, popularly known as Gbenga Obama, hospitalized after gunmen dispossessed him of jewellery valued at about ₦40 million.
The robbery happened on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, where the victim was standing outside his office in the company of friends.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured the moment an assailant, dressed in a black face cap, long-sleeved shirt, and black jeans, approached the group. The suspect reportedly fired three shots at the businessman before demanding his valuables.
He allegedly carted away several gold chains and bracelets before fleeing the scene on a waiting motorcycle.
Gbenga Obama, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Police authorities confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the incident and assured that efforts are underway to track down the culprits.
