The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspects linked to separate murder cases in the Sangotedo, Ajegunle, and Ijegun areas of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests during a press briefing held on Monday at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

According to Hundeyin, the first incident occurred on May 6 at about 8:00 p.m. in Sangotedo. The police received a report of a fatal assault during an argument at a lounge. A 46-year-old man allegedly punched another man in the chest during a dispute over right of passage. The victim lost consciousness and was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. Detectives promptly visited the scene and arrested the suspect.

In another case, police responded to a distress call from the Suru Alaba community in Ajegunle on April 28 around 7:00 a.m. An angry mob was attacking two suspected armed robbers who had allegedly shot a 35-year-old man while attempting to steal his motorcycle. The victim died on the spot. Officers rescued the suspects—both aged 25—recovering a locally-made pistol, an expended cartridge, and a suspected stolen tricycle. Investigations revealed the suspects acted alongside accomplices who are currently on the run. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members.

The third case was reported on May 1 at about 11:00 p.m. in Ijegun. A man informed police that his younger brother had been fatally stabbed by his girlfriend during an argument. The victim was rushed to Alimosho General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives visited the scene, arrested the female suspect, recovered the murder weapon, and documented the body.

All cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. Hundeyin assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.
