In case you missed it, the Lagos State Government has launched an ambitious 20-year development plan (2024-2044) aimed at transforming Ibeju-Lekki into a dynamic, globally competitive urban hub.

The Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan focuses on enhancing key sectors such as:
– Tourism: Developing infrastructure to support tourism growth
– Housing: Providing affordable and quality housing options
– Agriculture: Promoting agricultural development and food security
– Industrial Development*: Encouraging industrial growth and job creation

Key Components of the Plan
The plan includes several key components, such as:
– Mass Transit Systems: Construction of efficient public transportation networks
– Youth Empowerment Programs: Initiatives to support youth development and employment
– Social Inclusion Initiatives: Programs aimed at promoting social equity and inclusion
– Technology Integration: Incorporating technology into community development to enhance quality of life

Alignment with Existing Plans
The Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan builds on the existing Lekki Comprehensive Master Plan and aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda. Major infrastructural projects integrated into the plan include:
– Dangote Refinery
– Lekki Free Trade Zone
– Lekki Deep Seaport
– Alaro City
– Proposed Lekki International Airport
– Green-Line Rail Project
– Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

Public Consultation and Feedback
The plan underwent a rigorous consultation process, including a 28-day public inspection across five key locations.

Valuable feedback from traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders will be incorporated to ensure the plan aligns with the aspirations of Ibeju-Lekki’s residents.
