The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians not to register more than once in the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

INEC announced that the registration would begin on August 18, starting with an online process.

The commission explained that anyone caught registering more than once could be removed from the voters’ register.

It stated that the registration aims to maintain a clean and fair electoral system, and to provide new voters with the opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Those who have just turned 18 or have never registered before are encouraged to take part.

The exercise will take place across the country, and the online registration can be done from anywhere using a phone or computer.

The official website for the process is http://www.crv.inecnigeria.org.

Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Plateau State, shared this information during a meeting with stakeholders.

He said the registration is also open to people who need to collect, transfer, or replace their PVCs.

Sadiq added that INEC had put measures in place to stop non-Nigerians from participating in the registration.

He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, political parties, and other important groups to help inform eligible voters and encourage them to take part in the exercise.
