Olajide Adediran, publicly known as Jandor and the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

The closed-door meeting between the two leaders was followed by a media briefing where Adediran congratulated Sanwo-Olu on his re-election and praised the governor for his warm reception.

“I already did that at the grassroots level last Friday by visiting my local government,” Jandor stated. “The next step was to officially inform the number one citizen of the state that I have returned to the party. I’m back home with my political family, and we’re ready to consolidate our collective strength.”

Reflecting on the last gubernatorial election, Adediran acknowledged internal divisions within the political structure, suggesting they played a role in the PDP’s loss. “We all knew what happened during the last election. It was because the house was divided. Now, we are together and we are back,” he declared.

Speaking about the atmosphere of the meeting, he noted, “The reception was fantastic. Mr. Governor is truly a gentleman. I commend his composure throughout the campaign. In a season marked by intense political tension, his calmness stood out and, in my view, contributed significantly to his victory.”

Adediran emphasized that the visit was more than a political formality—it was a symbol of maturity and a step toward fostering unity beyond party lines.

“Lagos deserves a political climate where leaders engage constructively, regardless of party affiliation,” he said. “This gesture reflects the kind of politics we should be practising—one that prioritises the development of our state above personal or partisan interests.”

Adediran was originally a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before defecting to the PDP. He is also the convener of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, a group within the APC known for advocating internal reforms and democracy.
