The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, widely known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria to face charges related to the murder of 21-year-old Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.

Nnayereugo, who had been on the run since July 2023, was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday following a collaborative operation involving the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and Qatari authorities.

The extradition process began after the victim’s family submitted a formal petition through their legal representatives on September 29, 2024.

Investigations revealed that Miss Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, was murdered at Nnayereugo’s residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023.

Following the crime, he fled the country and later released a misleading video online, falsely appearing to confess in an apparent attempt to disrupt investigations.

Declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his arrest.

Nnayereugo was first apprehended in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under the alias “Kanu Princeton Samuel” on October 20, 2023, but escaped during a prison break on November 26.

Further intelligence indicated that he moved through several countries in West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East using forged identities.

He ultimately settled in Doha, Qatar, under the false name “Toure Abdoulaye” with a fraudulent Guinean passport and found illegal employment to evade authorities.

Using biometric data and close international cooperation, INTERPOL NCB Abuja and INTERPOL NCB Doha confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest in Qatar in February 2025.

The Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Justice, formally requested his extradition, which was granted by Qatari judicial authorities.

Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the successful operation, commending the cooperation between Nigerian and international agencies. He also expressed appreciation to the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Qatari government, INTERPOL Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar.

The IGP assured Nigerians that the suspect would face a thorough and diligent prosecution as part of the NPF’s unwavering commitment to justice and national safety.
