The Lagos State Government has commenced the eviction of roadside traders in Oyingbo, targeting illegal structures built on drainage systems along the Ebute Meta–Oyingbo market corridor.

The Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the move, stating that the enforcement followed the expiration of served notices and direct one-on-one advocacy with the affected traders.

“Our Environmental Sanitation Corps have now begun removing illegal structures built on drainage along the Ebute Meta–Oyingbo market corridor,” Wahab said.

He emphasized that the action aligns with the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward environmental nuisances, describing it as a crucial step in restoring clean and safe public spaces for all Lagosians.

The government’s move has sparked mixed reactions from traders and residents, with some supporting the effort to maintain cleanliness and order, while others lament the impact on their businesses.
