The Lagos State Government has restricted working hours at building sites across the state to between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
This was announced by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, during a briefing in Alausa on Thursday.
Dr. Olumide stated that the restriction must be strictly observed by all stakeholders in the construction sector, adding that relevant government agencies would enforce full compliance.
He noted that exceptions to the stipulated working hours may be granted but only upon formal application, which would be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
According to the Commissioner, the measure is aimed at safeguarding the environment, curbing incidents of building collapse, and enhancing the overall well-being of residents.
He also called on members of the public to report any construction site found to be operating outside the approved hours.
