A commercial taxi driver suspected of serial rape, assault, and armed robbery has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command following multiple reports from victims across the state.
Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the suspect, identified as Adedayo Ben Adegbola, was taken into custody on October 31, 2025, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti. His arrest follows a police investigation triggered by widespread complaints shared online by alleged female survivors.
According to Adebisi, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohunnare Jimoh, ordered a covert intelligence-led operation after the disturbing reports linked similar attacks to the same commercial vehicle.
Detectives later tracked down the suspect and recovered the red Toyota Corolla believed to have been used in the crimes, with registration number JJJ 226 HT, now held as evidence.
Adebisi said investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspect acted alone or as part of a criminal network. She encouraged additional victims to step forward, assuring them of confidentiality and support.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s resolve to ensure that those responsible for preying on women face justice, promising further updates as the case progresses.
