The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it will carry out an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) simulation exercise at Eko Atlantic City on Thursday, August 28.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the drill is a routine security exercise designed to enhance the preparedness and response capacity of the police in handling bomb-related emergencies.

He explained that the exercise, to be conducted by the Nigeria Police Explosives Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Unit, would involve controlled detonations by specialized operatives.

“Members of the public are advised not to panic at the sound of explosions during the exercise. There will be no shrapnel or associated danger, as all necessary safety precautions have been put in place,” Hundeyin assured.

The Command urged residents, workers, and visitors within the Eko Atlantic area to remain calm and continue with their normal activities while the drill is ongoing.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, appealed for public cooperation and understanding during the exercise, emphasizing that the initiative is part of proactive measures to ensure public safety.

“The Lagos State Police Command remains fully committed to the safety, security, and well-being of all residents,” Hundeyin added.
