The Lagos State Government says it is ready to host the maiden National SEMA Summit.

Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations Gbenga Oyerinde announces on behalf of the state.

He is joined by LASEMA Permanent Secretary Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, General Manager of the Lagos Command and Control Centre Femi Giwa, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The summit brings together stakeholders, professionals, and emergency agencies from the 36 states and the FCT.

Oyerinde says the three-day event carries the theme “Strengthening Sub-National Emergency Management for a Resilient Nigeria.”

He explains that “this administration invests heavily in emergency and disaster management to ensure the protection of the lives and property of residents.”

Oke-Osanyintolu stresses that the summit strengthens national preparedness.

He says, “The success story of Lagos in emergency and disaster management makes the state a pacesetter for others to learn from.”

The government made this known during a roadshow at the Alausa Secretariat in Lagos.

The summit runs from October 2 to October 4.

Officials say Lagos drives the event through inter-agency coordination and the involvement of professionals from critical sectors.

They add that the state also builds awareness through public campaigns and appoints comedian Seyi Law as SEMA Ambassador.

Oke-Osanyintolu notes that “with political will and leadership from Mr. Governor, and the national emergency number 112, Lagos residents can be assured of swift collaboration and response at all times.”
