The Lagos State Government has sealed The Place Restaurant, Akowonjo, and Cravings Eatery and Supermarket, Egbeda-Akowonjo, for violating the state’s ban on Single-Use Plastics (SUPs).

Enforcement officers from the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources carried out the operation as part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the government’s directive aimed at curbing plastic pollution across the state.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who confirmed the development, said the ban on SUPs is a critical environmental protection measure, not a suggestion.

He stated, “The ban on Single-Use Plastics is a necessary step to protect our environment from plastic pollution that blocks drainages, causes flooding, and endangers aquatic life. We will continue to enforce compliance across all sectors until Lagos achieves full adherence.”

Wahab emphasized that safeguarding the environment is a shared responsibility, urging all businesses and residents to comply with the policy for the collective good of the state.
