Officials clearing unauthorized settlements during a late-night operation in Lekki, resulting in 74 arrests.

In a late-night operation aimed at restoring order and cleanliness, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce arrested 74 individuals in the Lekki area during a clean-up exercise that began around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The coordinated enforcement covered several hotspots, including Falomo Bridge, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Oniru Beach, Law School, Lekki Phases 1 and 2, and the vicinity of the 1004 Estate. Authorities reported the presence of several “undesirable elements” loitering or engaging in unlawful activity at these locations.

Of the 74 people apprehended, 72 were men and 2 were women. Officials confirmed that all suspects would be charged in accordance with due legal process.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents and visitors alike, adding that similar operations will continue across the metropolis.
