Lagos to host 2nd Edition of EET&C Spelling Bee Competition on May 28

The Annual Educating The Educators Training and Consultancy (EET&C) Spelling Bee competitions, showcasing talent from Junior and Secondary schools across Lagos State, is set to kick off its second edition on May 28, 2025.

This announcement was made by Ms. Adeolaoluwa Badejo, Principal Consultant of EET&C. The event, sanctioned by the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, will unfold across all six educational districts of the state, with champions from each district advancing to the State finals. The competition will feature distinct categories for junior and secondary school participants.

Speaking on the objectives of the spelling bee competition, Ms. Badejo asserted, “As educators, we have a duty to improve literacy, communication, and language development by leveraging the power of reading and spelling as tools for lifelong learning.”

Ms. Badejo, an experienced teacher, trainer, and early childhood education specialist, highlighted the importance of fostering a reading culture among students statewide. She expressed confidence that the spelling bee competition will inspire participants to expand their vocabulary and tackle challenging words in their academic endeavors.

She also recognized the Lagos State Government’s support through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, which has facilitated a conducive environment for private sector contributions to educational development in the state. Additionally, she applauded the remarkable advancements in the education sector under the THEMES+ agenda initiated by His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.

The preliminaries will commence with the District 4 Finals at Lagos City College, Yaba, on May 28, 2025, followed by additional district finals, culminating in the State finals scheduled for June 25, 2025.
