The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has praised one of its officers, Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27), for his outstanding display of integrity and professionalism after he rejected a ₦20,000 gratification offered by a motorist in the Okota area of Lagos.

According to a report by The Nation newspaper on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, a motorist had called Officer Ademola’s attention to a developing traffic congestion at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis. Responding swiftly, the officer moved to the scene and successfully restored order within minutes.

Impressed by his prompt intervention, the motorist reportedly offered him ₦20,000 as a token of appreciation. However, in an act that has since drawn wide admiration, Officer Ademola politely declined the offer, stating that he was only performing his lawful duty for which he receives due remuneration from the Lagos State Government.

In a statement, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, lauded Officer Ademola’s conduct, describing it as “a reflection of discipline, honesty, and commitment to the ethical values guiding public service in Lagos State.”

Bakare-Oki said such exemplary behaviour reinforces public confidence in LASTMA and aligns with the Sanwo-Olu administration’s drive for transparency, accountability, and service excellence across all government agencies.

“Officer Ademola’s conduct epitomizes the new moral reawakening and ethical orientation we are instilling across the Agency. He has set a commendable example for his colleagues and for public servants generally,” Bakare-Oki said.

He also encouraged other officers to emulate Ademola’s integrity, noting that the management would continue to recognize and reward acts that elevate the agency’s image and promote public trust.

Meanwhile, Officer Ademola expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and LASTMA management for their continuous investment in personnel training and welfare, which he said has helped shape his professional attitude and sense of duty.

He also thanked the government for providing logistics support, quality uniforms, and other operational materials that enhance officers’ morale and efficiency on the field.

LASTMA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, civility, and operational excellence in ensuring safe, efficient, and seamless traffic management across Lagos State.
