LASU sends students, staff on long Christmas break amid strike

Lagos State University (LASU) Senate has declared Monday, December 9 to January 5, 2025 as Christmas and New Year break amid staff strike action.

The school announced that all university activities, including lectures and socio-academic events, will resume on Monday, January 6, 2025.

The announcement urged all students residing in the university’s hostels across all campuses (Ojo, LASUCOM, Epe and Badagry) to vacate the hostels within 48 hours, starting from 8:00 a.m. on Monday, 9th December 2024.

The university’s Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which includes the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), had declared an indefinite strike over low salary payments on Friday.
