Political parties in Lagos State have rejected the nomination fees imposed by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) ahead of the July 12 local government election.

The fees range from N50,000 to N150,000 for various candidates, with exemptions for female candidates and persons with disabilities.

Parties’ Concerns
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) chairperson, Temilola Akinade, described the fees as unacceptable, stating that parties had requested free or reduced fees.

Other opposition party leaders, including PDP’s Philips Aivoji and LP’s Dayo Ekong, expressed concerns about the conduct of elections in the state, accusing the ruling APC of intimidation and manipulation.

Call for INEC to Conduct LG Elections
The parties urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct local government elections to ensure credibility, transparency, and fairness.
