Singer Abdulazeez Fashola, publicly known as Naira Marley, has testified before the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, regarding the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

Naira Marley, who testified virtually, claimed he was out of the country at the time of Mohbad’s death and had no animosity towards the late singer.

Through his lawyer, Olusola Okuwobi, Naira Marley urged the coroner to investigate Omowunmi, Mohbad’s wife, and 14 others who were present at the singer’s house 48-72 hours before his death. He accused those present during Mohbad’s final moments of attempting to evade responsibility by circulating an old video.

A group of Nigerians in the diaspora, under the auspices of The Concerned Nigeria Citizens in Diaspora, has also called on the police to re-investigate the case.

They seek a detailed investigation of the individuals present at Mohbad’s house, including his brother, Adura Aloba.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Prior to his death, he had alleged being assaulted by gangs linked to Naira Marley and his associate Samson Eletu. However, a Lagos court acquitted Naira Marley and others of any wrongdoing on February 25.

Omowunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, was contacted for comment but had not responded as of the time of filing this report.
