Stakeholders have told the National Assembly to move faster on the Environmental, Social, and Health Impact Assessment (ESHIA) Bill 2025.

The demand came from Dr. Michael David of the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation (GIFSEP), Mr. John Makina of Oxfam, and Ms. Francisca Edeh of Oxfam Youth Ambassadors.

They said the bill would protect people and ecosystems, expand focus to social and health concerns, stop harmful industries from using public funds, and steer Nigeria toward sustainable growth.

They also noted that Africa needs about 53 billion dollars each year to strengthen infrastructure, support farmers, ensure food security, and adapt to climate change.

The call was made on Sunday in Abuja during the #DrawTheLine Day of Global Climate Action.

The stakeholders added that they joined the global campaign by urging lawmakers to act quickly, advocating for indigenous rights, pushing for stronger state policies, and mobilizing citizens through training, advocacy, and public engagement.
