The national grid has suffered a major setback throwing millions of Nigerians into darkness for the third time in days.
A few minutes to 9am on Saturday, the grid returned zero transmission across all distribution companies including Ikeja and Eko Discos both in Lagos.
Earlier on Monday, the grid had tripped and again on Tuesday during restoration efforts it collapsed again.
Electricity industry sources say power generation was at 3,042 megawatts at 8 AM, peaking at 3,968 MW at 7 AM. However, shortly before 9 AM, generation plummeted to just 47 MW.
At the time of this report, the allocation to power distribution companies stood at 0.00 MW.
The cause of the collapse remains unclear, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria is yet to speak on the development.
