The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Lagos, for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs from Ghana into Nigeria.

Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, at his church in Okun Ajah, Lekki, after months of evading arrest and fleeing to Ghana. NDLEA operatives trailed him since June following the seizure of 200kg of “Ghana Loud” cannabis on June 4 and another 700kg from his delivery van on July 6. He allegedly ferried the drugs via waterways.

In a separate Lagos raid on August 7, operatives recovered 15.63kg of Canadian Loud from an apartment in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, arresting suspect Benjamin Udo Ukoh.

The agency also made major seizures across other states:

  • Nasarawa: 3,093kg of skunk seized from three suspects in New Karu.
  • Kano: 359kg of skunk from Nura Yahaya; 9kg of Colorado from Umar Adamu Umar; 20,000 tramadol pills and 200 diazepam ampoules from Usman Musa.
  • Gombe: 550,266 tramadol pills seized in Tudun Wadan Pantami; 50,000 more from Ibrahim Adamu in Bajoga.
  • Edo: Interception of a Toyota Hiace bus at Ewu junction yielded 23,940 tramadol capsules, 1,100 tablets, and 400 pentazocine ampoules; suspect Taiye Jethro arrested.

Meanwhile, NDLEA commands nationwide intensified their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities in schools, workplaces, worship centres, and communities.

Commending the operations, NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) urged officers to sustain the agency’s “balanced approach” to drug control.
