The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, along with more than 100 partygoers during a midnight raid on a suspected drug party in Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, after the agency received credible intelligence about an all-night drug-themed party at Proxy Night Club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island.
According to Babafemi, NDLEA operatives discreetly infiltrated the club around 11 p.m. on Saturday and struck at about 3 a.m. on Sunday, disrupting the event in line with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures.
“Over 100 suspects, including the owner of the club, Pretty Mike, were arrested and taken into custody for screening. Cartons of illicit substances such as Loud and laughing gas were recovered from both the suspects and the club’s store,” Babafemi confirmed.
He explained that the Lagos nightclub raid was part of a broader week-long crackdown on drug trafficking and distribution networks across the state.
On October 17, NDLEA officers arrested a mother of two, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, identified as a major distributor of Canadian Loud and California Loud—high-grade strains of cannabis—across Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and VGC. She was apprehended at her Lekki home, where officers seized 500 grams of the drugs.
Similarly, on October 23, operatives raided the residence of Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe at Solomade Estate, Ikorodu, recovering 275 litres of skuchies—a dangerous cocktail made from blackcurrant drink, cannabis, and opioids.
At the Seme border axis, two additional arrests were made: Jacob Ojugbele was caught with 55kg of skunk at Ashipa, Badagry, while Amusa Oluwabukola was found with 121.3 litres of skuchies at Itoga, Badagry.
Babafemi stated that all suspects are currently in custody undergoing investigation, adding that the NDLEA remains steadfast in its mission to dismantle drug syndicates and curb the spread of illicit substances across Lagos and Nigeria at large.
“The agency will continue to intensify its intelligence-led operations and ensure that individuals and establishments promoting drug abuse are held accountable,” he said.
