UNICEF and the Niger government asked the media on Wednesday to help spread awareness about the upcoming measles and rubella vaccination campaign.

Dr Ibrahim Dangana from Niger’s health department and Mrs Grace Odeyemi from UNICEF told journalists in Minna that the campaign will start in October 2025 and will vaccinate children aged nine months to 14 years.

They explained that measles and rubella are serious diseases that can cause death in children and harm pregnant women.

Nigeria has many cases, so the campaign aims to stop these diseases and protect children and mothers across the country.

They said the media’s role is very important in sharing correct information about the vaccine and the campaign to the public.

By doing this, they hope to increase vaccination and reduce the spread of these diseases.
