Lagos State Police operatives have arrested a suspected gang leader and cultist, Christian Chukwudi, over the brutal murder of a Disc Jockey (DJ) in Abule-Ado, Ojo area of the state.
The victim, Victor Dickson, 32, was performing on stage at a hotel along Community Road on Saturday night when the armed cultists stormed the venue. The gang shot and macheted him before fleeing the scene, causing panic among guests.
Responding to a distress call, police officers pursued the assailants, who fled through FESTAC Town. However, Chukwudi with street name “Marshal General” was arrested with the help of FESTAC vigilantes while attempting to escape.
Confirming the arrest, Lagos Police Spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said a locally made shotgun and a live cartridge were recovered from the suspect.
In a separate operation, police officers from Iju Division arrested another suspected cultist, Ibrahim Toheeb, 26, alias “Baales”, at Fagba Junction around 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Toheeb, who had been on the police wanted list for cult-related killings, was caught with wraps of suspected drugs.
Hundeyin assured the public that investigations are ongoing and necessary legal actions will be taken against the suspects.
