A leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Shamusideen Oladiti, popularly known as Shameleon, has been arraigned before the Ebute-Meta Magistrate Court, Yaba, over the alleged killing of a dispatch rider on Lagos Island.
Oladiti, 55, is facing a three-count charge of murder, conspiracy, and causing grievous harm linked to violent incidents on August 27 and September 17, 2025.
Court filings allege that Oladiti, alongside unidentified accomplices, assaulted two men — Imam Ramon and Omale Samuel — during a confrontation on Tapa Street, Lagos Island. The altercation reportedly began after Ramon was accused of scratching Oladiti’s vehicle.
Eyewitnesses claimed the victims were beaten with fists and a helmet. Ramon sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, where he later died.
Prosecutors said the offences contravene Sections 223, 411, and 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Oladiti pleaded not guilty to the charges. The presiding magistrate ordered his remand pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
