Governor Ahmed Ododo has urged all political appointees in Kogi State to return to their respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) and lead efforts to mobilize citizens for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

The call was made by Information Commissioner, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, who confirmed that the governor’s directive aims to ensure greater participation in the CVR exercise and to reinforce grassroots governance.

According to Fanwo, the governor has instructed appointees, including commissioners and other government officials, to coordinate voter registration activities at the ward level.

They are also expected to submit detailed reports on the number of new voters registered within their respective wards and LGAs.

This directive will take effect from Monday, September 1.

Fanwo explained that the governor’s move is intended to foster deeper connections between the government and local communities, ensuring that governance is not limited to the state capital.

He also emphasized that appointees must seek written approval from the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, if they need to leave their assigned LGAs during the mobilization period.

Failure to adhere to this requirement would result in disciplinary action.

Governor Ododo’s call reflects his commitment to increasing voter participation and ensuring that government officials actively engage with the people.

The mobilization efforts will be coordinated at the LGA level, with appointees working closely with the highest-ranking official in each area to ensure the success of the CVR.
