The Lagos State Government has notified of a 15-month traffic diversion at Mile-2 Interchange to create room for the construction of a new intermodal transport terminal. This major terminal will integrate Rail, Bus, Water, and Non-Motorised Transportation (NMT) systems.

This diversion will affect Loop 1 on the Apapa-bound lane and Loop 4 on the Badagry-bound lane.

Oluwaseun Osiyemi,, Commissioner for Transportation, shared this on Sunday. He noted that construction is set to begin on Monday, November 11, and will run through Monday, February 16, 2026.

Travel Advisory and Alternative Routes:

To ease traffic disruptions, Osiyemi outlined the following alternative routes:

Apapa to Oshodi: Motorists traveling between Apapa and Oshodi can continue on their route without interruption.

Apapa to Badagry: Motorists should use the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, turn onto Akinwande Road to connect with Coker, and access the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Badagry to Lagos: Motorists can travel between Badagry and Lagos directly.

Badagry to Apapa: Drivers should divert onto Durban Road to connect with Amuwo Odofin Estate and rejoin the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.

The commissioner assured that clear signage would guide motorists through these diversions. Additionally, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officers will be stationed along the routes to assist with traffic management.

Osiyemi appealed for patience and cooperation, stating, “The closure is essential to the traffic management plan for the Transport Interchange Terminal project by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).”
