Businessman and lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko, has stirred fresh controversy after declaring that men who have only one wife deserve pity.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, the Delta-born senator argued that polygamy brings “stability and balance” to men, insisting that having multiple wives is a natural advantage.
When asked how he manages life with four wives—a situation many men consider daunting—Nwoko paused briefly before offering a metaphor that has since ignited debate.
“That’s a different topic for another day,” he said. “Yes, every man should do that. The example I give is this: just imagine telling you to stand on one foot. You know how difficult it is. But to stand on two, three, or four is much more balanced. That’s just the example I give. So, I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg.”
Nwoko’s comments have sparked reactions online, with some praising his traditionalist stance and others accusing him of promoting outdated gender views.
